Tyrese did it, R&B lives! Black Rose is the #1 album on Billboard’s 200 chart. With a lot of elbow grease, being his own #1 PR agent, he was out there grinding on social media and in person to get word out that his album was out there, and the fans have listened. Tyrese has a huge social following, a frequent and positive message giver, he interacts with his fans. But why else did this album make it to #1? He kept it real and honest, pouring all of his emotions into his Black Rose album that took him three years to compete. Tyrese says this is his last album because he wants to spend time being a father to his 8 year old daughter.
As a true R&B fan, I appreciate real and honest. Hearing songs that come from someones soul moves you deeply. Tyrese does just that on this Album. These songs will move you, have you in your feelings, like the old school R&B from back in the day. Lyrics that make you squirm in your seat because you want to hear these things being sung to you, yes you need to get this album real quick! The video for the song, Shame, is going to be a short film, about 25 minutes long produced by Denzel Washington. Tyrese shares on an interview with charlamagne on 105.1 that the album name, Black Rose was inspired by Tupac, in reference to a rose that grew thru concrete. He also opens up about the struggle there is for R&B. He candidly shares his feelings about having to struggle to advertise/promote his album and have some airplay on his songs, that other artists seem to get easy. Making sure he puts it out there that he has no bad feelings towards Sam Smith, he uses him as an example stating Sam gets all kinds of airplay on all types of radio station genre’s that an artist like Tyrese doesn’t get; He wonders why it is that he’d have to fight harder to have his record played. I love that Tyrese is an open book. He’s honest in his interviews, in his social media posts and he isn’t afraid to tell the world, this album is about his ex that he wants back. He’s ashamed of all the mistakes he’s made and says “as much as you’ve been getting paper, I don’t like going home to my girl not there”. Whoever this girl is, if she doesn’t take him back, we’ll at least have the Black Rose Album where we can enjoy his therapeutic soulfulness poured into the songs.
Tyrese says you can hit play on this album and not skip a song, he’s right. The beats are smooth. You will hear songs about love, about f*$@ng up and losing your love, feeling shame, and making love. There are songs featuring the crazy talented Chrisette Michele, Brandy, Tank and Snoop Dogg. Download it today and feel the love and pain of an artist that has shared his heart with us. Make sure to catch Tyrese on the next season of Empire as well, so excited about that.
